Eden Advanced Pest Technologies is experiencing the effects of a global resurgence in bedbug infestations. Bedbugs are not only a blood-feeding nuisance but they can mature into a money-sucking lawsuit for property and hotel managers throughout the Northwest.
The National Pest Management Association (NPMA) continues to report a 71% increase in bedbug infestations since 2001. Eden Advanced Pest Technologies has received over 30 reports alone, since the first of this year. The rise has been attributed primarily to the increase in global travel paired with the rapid mobility of the pest.
Since travel has become such a widespread pastime, the hotel industry has become a widespread target for bedbugs. Failure to treat an infestation effectively can add up. The eradication of an entire building for an infestation can cost upwards of $50,000. This figure does not include the probability of lawsuits. One customer who claims to be the victim of bedbugs can cost a facility untold expenses in legal fees and loss of business.
Education and preventative practices are the only way to avoid bedbugs. Eden Advanced Pest Technologies would like to be a resource in a bedbug response plan in our communities.
